Woohoo! Dave and I have made it to our third year wedding anniversary, it was Monday, Jan. 9th. At our age, you would think we'd be celebrating number 30, but then again, at our age and with our past history, it is as much a victory to be celebrating #3 as #30. In fact, I think we appreciate even more finding ourselves happily married at 3 years than most people would who haven't been where we have in the past.
We kept our celebrating simple. We invited a few friends/family to join us back at "the scene of the crime" - Golden Corral, where we had our post-wedding get-to-gether on the day we were married with friends and family. It was nice because some of those friends we don't get to see very often so it was a great time to get caught up on each others lives.
I have gone back to working full-time. For the last 2.5 years I have been working 3/4 time and I have enjoyed that very much. However, office policies and politics too complicated to explain briefly and too boring to explain completely have become such that I felt it was the best way to go. It hopefully will only be for the next year or a little bit longer since Dave and I hope to serve a full-time church mission while Spencer is out on his and Dave has set his retirement date for a year from this month.
January weather has been more like spring than winter this year. Our fruit trees have started putting forth leaves so if it doesn't go back to being winter soon, our fruit trees don't stand a chance. How nice has it been? Yesterday I walked Chico without a coat on, just a sweatshirt. Mid-January in Utah, mind you! The ski industry is languishing. The mountains are practically bare! And we have not seen any deer roaming the neighborhood like we typically do during the winter months. There's no point. There is no snow to force them down the mountainside!
