I am joining the blogging world! It is my new year's resolution to make regular posts and chronicle the events of my life and that of my family. I used to do a good job of that prior to the blogging phenomenon and when my kids were small, using a word processor and printing out family newsletters and allowing the US Postal Service to deliver the news. Now, times have changed apparently and this is the most up-to-date way and it is via the world wide web. So I'm jumping in and I'm looking forward to the events of the coming year.
I should have some big events to report. I have a second granddaughter due to arrive in February and a name has FINALLY been chosen - Cosette Leilani Steck. Alyssa has labored over choosing the name as much as she will labor to deliver this child into the world, I think! Dave & I will make a trip to England in March to welcome the new baby and visit with family.
I should have a marriage to report about in April since Jenni has announced that she is engaged to Mark Gwilliam and they have chosen April 21st, but the date seems to be a bit fluid and not set in stone.
I also hope to report sending off my son, Spencer, to serve as a full-time missionary somewhere yet to be determined as well as the date. Spencer has just been made manager of the Highland Subway, which means a substantial increase in pay, which hopefully translates into a faster accumulation of savings to make this event happen.
My husband, Dave, has announced that his goal is to retire from the Unified Fire Authority Jan 2013. Our goal is to work on developing a plan that will allow us to open our own business. We also hope to serve a mission together sometime while Spencer is serving as well.
So on the first day of 2012, I look forward to seeing what the future has in store. Lots of happiness and hopefully minimal sorrow. But as always, I ask God to take my hand and walk with me.
Let the adventures begin!
What will your business be?
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a follower of my blog! I'm a novice so I'll be improving this as time goes on I hope. It's pretty basic right now.
DeleteWe are still exploring options for the business. Dave has so many talents and skills we could go in a number of different directions. My job is going to be office manager/accountant/paper shuffler no matter what we decide to do.
